Creative costuming (floor length gowns with bottoms that looks like the Alps), local specific parts (ferrari doing sonuts), great music, and the way they lit the flame - amazing and grand!

Luciano Pavorotti looked like he'd gotten a poor dye job or a bad toupe, but his voice rang true as always and he look thoroughly thrilled to be singing there.

Sometmes the opening ceremonies leave me cold, but tonight's were wonderful!

I liked what I saw of them too. We watched until the Ferrari drove off. I liked the ballet part best and also enjoyed the parade of atheletes. Once again the Mongolian delegation's hats cracked me up.

One thing I don't understand is why protesters were protesting politcal stuff at the Olympics. Surely it makes better sense to do that at G8 meetings or political summits. Using the Olympics as a protest venue merely shows the protesters as unable to choose their moments instead of rushing like lemmings to network cameras.

I agree on the protesters - save it for the political rallies!
