Gratitude Project 2010

Catching up again.

Yesterday Aug 30th - That neither my younger son nor his girlfriend were hurt in the car accident last night where they got t-boned on the passenger side at an intersection on a local highway. Unofficial report (official report to be filed in the a.m.) from the local PD is that the guy driving the PT Cruiser ran a red light and slammed them.[EDITED TO ADD: unofficial report was wrong. My son was found at fault for going through a red light.] My son had said about 4-5 car lengths back he'd looked at the light and it was green. He was doing the speed limit (thank the Gods) because he'd just gotten to the construction zone. But after the hit he was so upset he thought maybe the light had changed on him and he'd not seen it change. We felt by the damage and the nature of the intersection and the fact that 40 mph is the speed limit that the light does not change that quickly, but he was uncertain because DAMN! someone slammed into him. Large photos of the car behind the cut:

Boy was checked at the hospital earlier today and cervical x-ray and head CT were fine, but the CT found a sinus infection he was unaware of - lol. His girlfriend is (finally) going to be checked out right now.

Aug 31st - Grateful that my f-i-l is now aware he is too weak to live alone. He's fallen at least 3 times since Sunday and last night Dave had to go over and get him up off of the kitchen floor again. He is weakening daily, and hospice will be called again because he won't be having any more hormone shots (which was considered palliative by his doctor, yet potentially curative by hospice guidelines) so he can get pain relief as it becomes necessary. He has a bed sore from sitting in his chair. This is sounding less like gratitude and honestly I'm giving what I can to this project - right now life is presenting slim pickings.
