Feels like the summer of death

So, F-I-L has cancer. Prosate, that he was told about years ago. And the doctor at the time told him he'd die of other things long before he died of prostate cancer. So .... that was incorrect. Not that it much matters I suppose. I am certain the doc told him that because he did not want treatment. And it was the slow growing kind, and etc.

He will go to the oncologist next week, but I suspect it is only to get hospice/pain meds. He's mentioned he would commit suicide, but then they wouldn't let him be buried next to his catholic wife. He's mentioned that more than once recently, prior to the diagnosis.

So that's that, I guess.

Thanks, Jeff. I appreciate it.

So sorry. Sometimes I think we get to an age where we hear more of terminal illness and deaths than we do of weddings and births. I try to remind myself that beginnings necessitate endings; that endings facilitate beginnings. But sometimes, it is very difficult.

Hey, you didn't tell me this over the weekend. We must get together for a glass of wine and a bite...alone.

I didn't know if you'd read it and just was too prickled because of your mom to respond. {{{{D}}}}
