The Roman Catholic church needs to be taken down

to its bare bones dogma and rebuilt with compassion and a sense of taking responsibility for atrocities allowed and scapegoating of the innocents that is its history. Let's start with removing the second in line to the Pope. And maybe Dawkins, though still just a publicity hound, should be encouraged in the lawsuit that will never happen just to keep people angry so they will push for change. After all, if you can use a frothing theist against people why not use a frothing atheist in defense? And how is the RC explaining the sexual abuse of the young girls? Oh that's right, they aren't. Of course, girls are far less important to the RC than the boys anyway.

Fury after Cardinal links gays to abuse of children

Victims of Irish clerical child abuse have expressed outrage after the Vatican’s Secretary of State linked the current paedophile crisis to homosexuality.

Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Holy See’s second highest prelate after the Pope, told a news conference in Chile he believed there was no connection between celibacy and paedophilia.

“Many psychologists and psychiatrists have demonstrated that there is no relation between celibacy and paedophilia,” he said.

“But many others have demonstrated, I have been told recently, that there is a relation between homosexuality and paedophilia. That is true. That is the problem.”

Gay rights groups have condemned the Vatican's secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, for claiming that the Catholic church's sexual abuse crisis was linked to homosexuality and paedophilia and not celibacy among priests.
Santiago was not an ideal venue for the cardinal's remarks given that one of the Chilean church's highest-profile paedophile cases involves a priest having sex with young girls. Despite multiple complaints the church hierarchy kept Father José Andres Aguirre, known to parishoners as Father Tato, serving at several Catholic girls' schools in the capital.
