Memory jog by estaratshirai - 2008 online tarot reading

I did this last night.

Spread Information:
The full Celtic Cross reading is a terrific bargain for a multi-faceted, in-depth look at your life and prospects.

The Celtic Cross Spread is a bonafide emblem of Tarot. It is generally regarded as a standard "consultation" spread in the Tarot reader trade, which is attested to by the number of variations of it which are to be found in the pages of contemporary Tarot manuals. The Celtic Cross spread can give you valuable insight into several areas of your life, and how those parts interact within you.

Possessing eleven positions with occasional "extras" at the end, the Celtic Cross offers enough positions to represent relatively complex situations. Within the wheel-shaped part of the spread is a horizontal axis which represents the flow of outer events from recent past through the present to the near future.

The other central axis arises out of one's personal history, through the present moment, to focus on one's Mission or Higher Power. The self and the issues of the moment are at the center of the spread.

The column to the right of the Wheel is called the Staff, which can also be thought of as a ladder. The ideas and advice in this part lift one from the plane of dilemma to a higher plane of resolution. Don't make the mistake of viewing the Past cards as irrelevant to the present or future!

Your Interpretations

Self: Ace of Wands

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
Stay attentive to your goal even as change accelerates.

The card in the Self position reveals aspects of how you perceive yourself right now.

The Ace of Wands in this position signifies your personal point of focus, advising you to take action to stay in alignment with your goals. Wands is the suit of the fire element which can be used to activate and accelerate change, chemical transformation, communication and realization.

Much to your benefit, change is ignited as you make the challenging transition from theory to action, but you must remain clear about your goal. An ace signifies the seed, the start point, a first step; if you handle yourself properly, if you take advantage of this opportunity, your situation can mature into a great success. Stay in alignment with your goal.

GENERAL MEANING
This suit, most often called "Wands" and sometimes called "Rods" or "Staves," represents initiative, ambition, drive and desire. This is the suit of enterprise and risk-taking.

An Ace of this suit in this position symbolizes a pivotal act, or fateful step, that will set loose a chain of events leading toward your desired goal. It refers to a birth or new beginning, the inauguration of an endeavor, and the building of the necessary commitment to see a project or plan through. It personifies an aroused Will that is totally focused, aiming at the bulls-eye.

MEANING of POSITION
The card in the Self position reveals aspects of how you perceive yourself right now.

The Self position represents your personal identity in the Now -- the only real point of power. It's not about you in an objective sense, but rather a reflection of how you perceive yourself. It points to an aspect of your self-image, outside of how others might see you.

Consider the meaning of the card that lands here in light of your inner experience, your personal perspective about yourself and the issues you bring to this reading. Who are you? What kind of attitude or energies are affecting you right now? What do you want? It's not always easy to know yourself. Clarity about values and roles is essential for skillful behavior. Values evolve, but don't be too attached to roles -- they can change.

Your attitude is of primary importance here because, more than anything, it supports a capacity for happiness, success and love. How are you contending with fears that arise? What aspect of yourself is in need of development here? Is there any attitude that may be in need of change?

The way you perceive yourself may prove to be accurate or inadequate as the reading unfolds. You may want to take a second look at this position at the end of the spread.

Situation: Six of Wands

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
Satisfy your ambitions and derive personal benefit from the new trends arising around you.

The card that lands in the Situation position refers to social or circumstantial factors which could be affecting your life at this time.

When the Six of Wands is in this position, the situation may be calling for a charismatic individual who can stir up the collective imagination and inspire long term change. You may or may not be the leader of a new movement or project, but you have an important role to play.

If you pay attention, you will see how your personal concerns could be fulfilled by the momentum of the group. Progress is being made; trust that events will work in your favor and allow them to unfold naturally.

GENERAL MEANING
This suit, most often called "Wands" and sometimes called "Rods" or "Staves," represents initiative, ambition, drive and desire. This is the suit of enterprise and risk-taking.

The Six of this suit points to the respect and acknowledgment due to you for your efforts to solve the problems of your community. The image is usually that of a victory parade, after the celebrated leader has helped the troops win a pivotal battle.

It took the whole tribe to win the victory, of course, but it was the leader's heroism and clarity under pressure that inspired them to overcome. The team is thrilled that the leader led them to victory. This card points to a time to let everyone relax and celebrate -- if you are the leader, even let them lionize you for awhile. They are seeing reflected in you their own better selves -- a victory indeed!

MEANING of POSITION
The card that lands in the Situation position refers to social or circumstantial factors which could be affecting your life at this time.

The Situation position provides a general context for your question -- the set and setting, the politics, whatever is going on around you that might be impacting the situation or issue you are consulting the Tarot about. This card could apply to a specific drama or dilemma that you are now confronted with.

Consider this card in light of the issues, people, and forces shaping your environment, your current circumstances. This position also refers to that which is true from the start -- i.e. the hand you were dealt. Consider the set of influences that surround you and affect your personal life. Take a look at how you have been wandering down your chosen path. Our experience is naturally affected by external factors and cycles, the ups and downs of the times. This card can offer clues as to skillful adjustments you might make.

Challenges/ Opportunities: King of Cups

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
Evoke the wise elder to help you lift yourself above problems and worries.

The card that lands in the Challenges/Opportunities position refers to ways that you can turn obstacles into stepping stones.

When the King of Cups is in this position, you are challenged to find the wise, kind and spiritual part of yourself. Bring this mature king energy forward so you can evoke, direct or support the education or healing that is needed. Use forgiveness to help yourself and others lift out of sorrow, shame or unfinished business, reassuring all, including yourself, as to how precious they are.

This King of Cups is akin to a pope: he bestows blessings, benedictions and absolutions. He helps people heal by reminding them of their inherent nobility. As you discover and activate this inner king, lend moral support to those around you. In doing so, you will benefit as well.

GENERAL MEANING
Traditionally, representing the energy of a King, this card usually portrays a watery background, with a man seated on a throne, holding the Cup of Mystery in his hand. Occasionally, his cup is fulminating like the mouth of a volcano, emanating light, but never boiling over.

The man on this card doesn't need to speak to communicate strength, passion and commitment. Sometimes he is robed like a priest or shaman. Intense and intuitive, he is a force to be reckoned with.

MEANING of POSITION
The card that lands in the Challenges/Opportunities position refers to ways that you can turn obstacles into stepping stones.

The Challenges/Opportunities position helps you get the best out of your situation. It reflects the cutting edge in the situation, the learning curve whereby you can turn adversity into accomplishment -- using creativity and a positive attitude.

This card can point to recurring themes in the challenges you have faced in your life -- and to opportunities that may yet present themselves. Can you think of any patterns which are returning to affect you now? If so, try to recall how you have reacted in the past. Perhaps you can see new potentials, while noticing the hidden pitfalls too. Can you imagine a different way of responding to the situation this time around?

The wisdom of this card can help you turn surprises into strengths, blind spots into windows of opportunity. Bring creativity and flexibility to the way you go about your way in the world. Your expanding capacity will become an asset and source of inspiration to all.

Foundation: The Devil

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
Summon up your inner strength and nothing can intimidate you.

The card in the Foundation position points to influences from your personal history, your roots and background.

The Devil card in this position suggests that during childhood or early adulthood, you were tutored in self-mastery -- how to remain centered in the presence of powerful, stimulating energies. Either through example or through your own experience, you have internalized the practice of self-discipline.

You can allow strong passionate energy to move through you without losing control, acting out or injuring yourself. This knowledge will be enormously helpful during present events. You will be able to stay calm, cool and collected when everyone else is losing his or her heads. If you recall what you have learned, nothing can intimidate you. Your mastery of your own passions is an invaluable skill and a great blessing.

GENERAL MEANING
What has traditionally been known as the Devil card expresses the realm of the Taboo, the culturally rejected wildness and undigested shadow side that each of us carries in our subconscious. This shadow is actually at the core of our being, which we cannot get rid of and will never succeed in taming. From its earliest versions, which portrayed a vampire-demon, this card evoked the Church-fueled fear that a person could "lose their soul" to wild and passionate forces.

The image which emerged in the mid-1700's gives us a more sophisticated rendition -- that of the "scapegoated Goddess," whose esoteric name is Baphomet. Volcanic reserves of passion and primal desire empower her efforts to overcome the pressure of stereotyped roles and experience true freedom of soul. Tavaglione's highly evolved image (Stella deck) portrays the magical formula for harnessing and transmuting primal and obsessive emotions into transformative energies. As a part of the Gnostic message of Tarot, this fearsome passion and power must be reintegrated into the personality, to fuel the soul's passage from mortal to immortal.

MEANING of POSITION
The card in the Foundation position points to influences from your personal history, your roots and background.

The Foundation position points to influences from your personal history, your roots and background -- factors which are important for you to reconnect with or examine. This is the storehouse of memory and belief systems which you inherited.

There can be limiting beliefs, but there can also be much value in collective knowledge and other forms of wealth which get passed down.

A review of how things have evolved to the present will help you gain clarity and perspective. In any lineage, there are assumptions about roles, identity and authority that can govern its structure for years.

Sometimes these dynamics are functional and healthy, supporting and encouraging both individual and group development. Sometimes these structures are constrictive to the point of becoming deadening and cry out for change. Let this card inspire you to view the present from a historical perspective. A new way of looking at things may result.

Recent Past: The Hermit

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
You have struggled to meet your inner strengths and allies.

The card in the Recent Past position refers to events that are just departing, recently influential but now diminishing in power.

The Hermit in this position has taken the time and put in the energy to confront his or her inner self, and it has been a revelation. There is a whole realm of forces at work that you had been hardly aware of.

The Hermit within you knows the names and character of these inner entities and how to call them up in an emergency. This is a profound transformation. What was once just a chaotic unconscious is now a realm filled with magical allies and sources of creative inspiration. Try not to lose touch with this dimension of being. It brings depth and richness to your personality that you don't want to live without, no matter what being in touch with it costs you.

GENERAL MEANING
The challenge of what has traditionally been known as the Hermit card is to be able to recognize a teacher in a humble disguise. This font of mysterious knowledge will not make it easy for the student to acquire his wisdom, as it takes time and long contemplation to fathom what he knows. He often speaks wordlessly, or in ancient and barbaric tongues, communicating with the elements, animals and Nature herself.

While the hourglass was an identifying feature on the earliest Hermit cards, more modern ones have shifted the metaphor, showing more or less light released from his lantern. In either case, the Hermit card reminds us of the value of time away from the hubbub of civic life, to relax the ego in communion with Nature.

MEANING of POSITION
The card in the Recent Past position refers to events that are just departing, recently influential but now diminishing in power.

The Recent Past position refers to events that are just departing, recently influential but now diminishing in power. Like it or not, what's done is done -- what has happened cannot be changed or deleted.

Often what appears here is the precipitating event or realization that brought you to the situation you are seeking guidance about now. Look to this card to provide a little perspective on factors that brought you into the present situation.

Higher Power: Seven of Wands

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
Current achievements represent not just practical success, but also inspired vision.

The card in the Higher Power position reflects the broader perspective and influence of your conscience, Guardian Angel, inner wisdom.

The Seven of Wands in this position reveals an approaching opportunity to secure goals you've been working toward for awhile. You deserve to have confidence in yourself and now others will know why. Take in the full significance of this moment.

Acknowledge your genius for outperforming your competitors and challengers and for earning this victory. This is not just a chance success; you set your goal, worked for it and are fulfilling it with aplomb. In the future your achievement will provide a benchmark for others to strive toward.

GENERAL MEANING
This suit, most often called "Wands" and sometimes called "Rods" or "Staves," represents initiative, ambition, drive and desire. This is the suit of enterprise and risk-taking.

The Seven of this suit generally shows a person who is nearly always successful in working her or his will in the world. This is a person who is truly gifted, standing head and shoulders above the rest, a standard-setter and exemplar that exceeds previous conceptions of what is possible.

In historical Tarot, this person would most likely be portrayed as an admired and feared warrior who has vanquished his adversaries against all odds, but nowadays such an outstanding feat could just as easily apply to the world of the media, politics or business.

Beware of creeping smugness that can be hinted at by this card. Being successful does not make you invincible, and it does not protect you against errors! Enjoy your "fifteen minutes of fame" and then get back to your tasks, or your head will swell, to the detriment of your ability to succeed again.

MEANING of POSITION
The card in the Higher Power position reflects the broader perspective and influence of your conscience, Guardian Angel, inner wisdom.

The Higher Power position points to your larger Self -- beyond personality and roles -- which knows and holds your best intentions, your hopes and aspirations. This position gives you a soaring bird's eye view, serving as a reminder of the essential meaning of your life -- your relationship with your Soul.

Enjoy this moment to savor the larger view of your struggles and their value toward your growing ability to give and receive love freely.

The card in this position is a mirror of your conscience, the part of you that needs to see you living up to what you know is right, and holding others to that as well. This is the influence of your better nature, your inner wisdom -- call it "the Oversoul" or "Guardian Angel," if you like.Your self-respect depends upon keeping a good relationship with this Mature Self, the Witness Who Is Not Fooled.

In general, this card is trying to stimulate a broader perspective on your life adventure -- by referencing the spiritual, or karmic, aspects.

Near Future: Eight of Swords

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
You may be tested. Be prepared to defend your viewpoint, choices, and reasoning.

The card in the Near Future position indicates which way the wind is blowing with regard to your situation. If you follow the Advice card, however, you can improve on or neutralize tendencies.

The Eight of Swords in this position advises that you prepare yourself for a bout of rigorous questioning. It will be beneficial for all involved if you maintain objectivity and avoid defensiveness.

You will need both stamina and flexibility to navigate the challenge before you. Take the time to prepare yourself -- both physically and emotionally -- by resting and eating well. It is too late to change the events in question, but if you let integrity be your guide, you will likely come through the examination with a greater sense of self-knowledge and self-respect.

GENERAL MEANING
Often called "the Test," the Eight of this suit usually pictures a warrior running the gauntlet, subjected to harsh examination, who finds out just how tough he is (or isn't) in the process. Life provides us with plenty of experiences that put us in situations of close scrutiny -- whether it's an entrance exam, a decisive job interview or even the tough conversations that follow upon a breach of trust in a close relationship.

Sometimes the challenge or obstacle course has nothing to do with other people, as when an inventor has to face the question "Does it really work?" or when the aspirant has to decide how badly he desires to go through some sort of initiation. This card shows what happens to that great idea in real time, where the rubber meets the road. The Test represents your chance to vindicate the time and energy spent in getting ready for a big moment. In most cases, you will either pass or fail, with little in the way of available middle ground.

MEANING of POSITION
The card in the Near Future position indicates which way the wind is blowing with regard to your situation. If you follow the Advice card, however, you can improve on or neutralize tendencies.

The Near Future position points ahead to the natural consequences of actions you are now or will soon be taking. This card can give you a sense of which direction the wind is blowing. It may refer to the whole situation or merely to one aspect that is front and center for you right now. This is the card of impending events but remember -- you still have power to shape the way things turn out!

This is about what could happen soon -- following the dynamics of your attitude and natural temperament. This is not cast in stone, however. If you follow the Advice card you can improve on or neutralize difficult probabilities that may be indicated.

Blocks & Inhibitions: King of Wands

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
Defend your confidence and optimism from negative self talk and critical thoughts.

The card in the Blocks position points to self-undermining tendencies, areas where you could be in denial, where you could get stuck -- unless you examine yourself and make some corrections.

When the King of Wands falls in this position, internalized authority figures are bound and determined to diminish a performance, demean you and create insecurity about accomplishments. Under the circumstances, when you become aware of those sabotaging monologues, turn down the volume or refuse to listen.

Determination followed by action is needed, not emotional dawdling. Being decisive may feel unfamiliar at first, but action itself can be the cure for too much thinking. Failure to act when action is called for is definitely detrimental.

GENERAL MEANING
This suit, most often called "Wands" and sometimes called "Rods" or "Staves," represents initiative, ambition, drive and desire. This is the suit of enterprise and risk-taking.

Traditionally representing the energy of a dynamic King, this card represents the classic conquering hero. He's a charismatic leader, entrepreneurial and ambitious, always creating new adventures. He does this because he doesn't like to stay home or to have to "mind the store" -- he gets to feeling restless and bored with the predictable. If you need a crusader, or someone to take on a big challenge, he's your man. He needs a big assignment, and would rather lead than follow.

It could be said that he has a bit of an ego, as evidenced in his enjoyment of flattery and praise. Ever a bit the performer, he overachieves in situations where it will be noticed, but in private he wants to be served and adored like the head lion of a pride. A benevolent despot, he makes life wonderful for those he loves, and just the opposite for those who displease him.

MEANING of POSITION
The card in the Blocks position points to self-undermining tendencies, areas where you could be in denial, where you could get stuck -- unless you examine yourself and make some corrections.

The Blocks and Inhibitions position helps you be aware of the tapes you play in your head that may be perpetuating obstacles to your success. What kinds of negative messages, self-doubt or paranoid fantasies descend upon you from time to time?

Don't let them undermine your ability to be who you are and to contribute. Examine them and give them a name, and identify them as separate from you (imagining them as little demons can help). This will increase your dominion over them.

This card may point to self-undermining tendencies, areas where you could be in denial, where you can get stuck, where you might get in your own way unless you examine yourself and make the necessary corrections. It easy to blame other people for frustrations that we really have with limitations we have put on ourselves.

Allies: Three of Swords

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
Turn to others with whom you can share your experience deeply in order to gain objectivity and comfort.

The card in the Allies position points to people who can be supportive or helpful to you at this time.

The Three of Swords in this position suggests that circumstances are isolating you from trusted confidants who know how to really listen to you. Sometimes, especially in families and close-knit groups, the person you usually process your feelings with is the same person with whom there seems to be problems.

It is difficult for any of us to reach a healthy view on loss, broken trust and abandonment without assistance from someone. Is there anyone you trust enough to consult with now who is not part of the problem?

Find a way to share your experience with someone who possesses some objectivity, who will give you realistic feedback. No one wants to expose their pain to superficial examination, but one or two deep conversations with a person you trust could make a world of difference. There is a needed piece of information you will not arrive at by yourself; a third party mirroring it for you will help you perceive it clearly.

GENERAL MEANING
Traditionally, the Three of Swords signified separation or the breakup of a significant relationship, including the tragic emotions that come along with such an event. Some cards show the horizon filled with storm clouds and flashing lightning.

The positive side of this card would be the ending of draining or frustrating associations, to become free again. One message this card brings is to cut some things loose. In spite of sentimental memories and emotional attachments, we need to let go of relationships that either cannot live up to their promise or have outlived the pleasure and support we once found in them.

MEANING of POSITION
The card in the Allies position points to people who can be supportive or helpful to you at this time.

The Allies position represents one or more people who can form a sort of psychic safety net for you. It could point to a support group or an advisor, who could help you put both your positive and negative past experiences into perspective, to shed some light on how you might proceed now.

Whether or not the counselor indicated is alive or deceased , their role modeling and shared insights could provide useful inspiration right now. Try to remember what you have been advised.

An underlying message is that you don't have to go through this alone!

Advice: King of Coins

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
Project all the confidence you can muster, as if you already know your plans are working and your goal is secured.

The card in the Advice position suggests a course of action which will harmonize what you want with what is currently possible.

The King of Coins in this position advises you to behave as if you already were a success. Project confidence that your plans and goals are in the process of unfolding perfectly.

Make your moves with authority and trust in your actions without waiting for acknowledgment or approval. Soon enough you will receive blessing after blessing. If you can learn to feel that kind of confidence in your body and get comfortable with it as your natural state, you will attract the support you desire.

GENERAL MEANING
Representing the energy of a King, this card in the suit of Coins or Pentacles displays one who has accomplished a lot in life and has arranged his or her affairs so that he has much good to show for it. Possessing a practical genius in the ways of the world, he loves to build things. Because he's so good at deal-making, this character is privy to the biggest deals in town. He has the power to make or break people financially. Although this does not always win him love, it certainly earns him respect.

In previous centuries this card referred to the myth of Midas, who loved gold so much that he was cursed so that everything he touched turned to gold. One day his daughter reached out to him and was turned into a golden statue. This story illustrates the downside of letting material security take too much precedence.

While the character of this card understands the value of wealth, including the burden it produces, he or she is mature enough to keep things in perspective. Even though the suit of Coins represents the material realm, this king is not just a materialist -- his sovereignty reflects higher values, as well as general welfare and prosperity.

MEANING of POSITION
The card in the Advice position suggests a course of action which will harmonize what you want with what is currently possible.

The Advice position may present a new option or direction, based on a different perspective on what could be helpful to you at this time. There may be a resource you have not accessed or a new point of view that opens your eyes to a solution or remedy you hadn't considered before. Or this card may simply reaffirm something you are already doing or planning on doing. It could even reframe the "problem" in a different manner altogether!

There may be one particular aspect of your life that needs attention. This could be an attitude, an unconscious habit, or some element of the environment that is impacting the way you take care of your relationships.

By adjusting your next move to take the message of this card into consideration, you are more likely to achieve better results. Yet there are times when even the concept of "doing" is too much. Contemplate this card from the viewpoint of possible avenues for action, if any. Then just let yourself flow gently along those lines.

Long-term Potential: Seven of Coins

© Tarot.com

POSITIONAL (MAIN) MEANING
Your endeavor requires time and patience; there are no shortcuts.

The card in the Long-term Potential position points to unknowns still taking shape. It is the "wild card" yet to be played.

The Seven of Coins in this position indicates that you are involved with such a formidable challenge that the learning curve will take longer than you might like. Only after a period of striving for mastery will you see much in the way of tangible results. It is important to search your heart and ask, "Do I have the commitment and the persistence to align myself with what could be a long term project?"

If you don't feel completely solid in your commitment, reconsider your plan, because there are no shortcuts in this situation. Your current endeavor is so demanding that it will require that you say no to other attractive prospects, for lack of sufficient time or energy, if nothing else. Be that as it may, there are tremendous rewards down this path, well worth whatever time and effort you put into it.

GENERAL MEANING
The Seven of this suit is typically a paean to the humble laborer who is willing to show up every day and sweat in the sun for next season's bounty. The traditional concept is cultivation, with an attitude that slow and steady wins the race, with faith in nature's assistance. The protagonist of this card doesn't make excuses, isn't whimsical or moody, but is dedicated and sees the job through. Of course, it's no good to count your chickens before they hatch, but there's no question that the person who is vigilant over a project is more likely to get the desired result.

Someone who works with Nature, cooperating with Her ways, will waste less energy and time than the person who works against Her. As a side meaning, we sometimes see this normally humble farmer in a moment of frenzy, betting the crop on a roll of the dice. This represents a moment of dementia, addiction or desperation which hopefully will not last long enough for the farmer to lose everything!

MEANING of POSITION
The card in the Long-term Potential position points to unknowns still taking shape. It is the "wild card" yet to be played.

The card in the Long-term Potential position reveals probabilities and possible long-term results of the path you are going down. Because this card reflects the far future, you have time to consider if this is really the outcome you want to cultivate.

The deep future contains unknown factors still taking shape. This card can give clues as to the nature of these factors and the long-term result of this relationship. It can also reveal a "wild card" still to be played before all is said and done.
