Interesting emails I get anymore

I have been getting more SPAM emails than usual. I chalk it up to the holiday shopping I do online and the fact that I've purchased from a couple of places for the first time.

Anyhow .... I get this email tonight about some woman's Goddess masks being up for auction. Ok. I don't know the sender or the artist, but I do have a small collection of masks -- none of them Goddess. (And no desire really to get one as my masks are more tribal and ceremony related.) I click the link anyway, curious little bugger that I am, practically guaranteeing that I will receive many future emails, all based on my indiscriminate clicking.

Is it just me or do most of the Goddesses looked distinctly masculine? I just find most of them ... unappealing. Will not be purchasing.

EWWW. Freya is supposed to be the epitome of beatiful... that mask makes her look like Patrick Swayze in drag. Ugh! NOT.

...

come to think of it, Patrick Swayze in drag was prettier than that mask.

Hahahaha!

Most looked like stereotypical NA/AI men ... and usually the woman are portrayed the same. I always thought it was a bit racist the way drawings of NAs, *regardless of tribe* were all portrayed the same in history books and novels of my youth.

They do look better in person; the artist was at a gather I went to a few years back. I think they're just not particularly photogenic.

I'm glad to hear they look better in person. I'm not one that looks for Goddess depictions to look all butterfly wings and rainbow sparkles, but I was surprised by the look of them.

that's always good to know. I think my main thing about them, was as PJ said, they all looked very NA, but also that they looked so, undeniably masculine in facial features. Granted not everyone (including myself) can have a narrow jaw or pert little nose or what have you...but short of some of the coloring, the faces just seemed very...off.
